Rainy Season - 1 June 2015
Hello my wonderful family!
This week has been ´´cold´´ and it is wonderful! I love when it rains here. Well, I love and hate hahaha. Love because it is not hot. Hate because there are more bugs and less people on the streets. But I will take the bugs over the heat.
It seems like every week is a rollercoaster of challenges and joys and failures and moments of growth. The week started out really rough. Neither of us seemed to have an effect on anyone and as we kept feeling rejected, we started to feel less and less motivated. Wednesday was starting really bad with bad feelings between us for reasons I don´t really remember and they aren´t important. We finally just confronted them and made some goals to help us refocus and work together and actually work together. Up until this point we have been ´´working together´´ but not at the same time. We have been playing this mental tug-of-war, each trying to get the other to think like them, which is exhausting and pointless. So we set goals, feel more united, and then miracles happen.
We had two baptisms this week. A mother and a daughter, and another son next week. The mother has a problem with her foot, the bottom of her foot faces up and she walks on what is usually the top of the foot. It is a huge sacrifice for her to get to church and I am impressed with her dedication.
We have been working alot more with members this week and we are already seeing a difference in the amount of trust they have with us. For example, we have a scheduled lunch every day this month! This is a great thing, not for the food, but so that we can get to know the members better.
Literally meals with members is one of the best things for missionaries because the members can get to know us and trust us and then more referals come in and also when we find investigators, we think about which members would be perfect to help those people and if we don´t know the members, this is impossible to do.
I heard about Elder Perry! :( His granddaughter was in my Jerusalem group with me so she is definitely in my prayers. Can you tell me exactly what happened? Someone told me buuuuut....hhaha I didn´t understand haha
Mom, did you get my email about the ept stuff and the power cereal? Please and thank you!!
I love you all so much. You are always in my prayers. I am so grateful for this chance I have to serve the Lord. I really hope I am letting Him shape me into the servant He needs me to be.
I read an awesome scripture that I feel like is defining my missionary service right now. D&C 123:12-14. I hope I am wearing out my life in the service of the Lord.
I love you all!
