Sunburnt - 16 March 2015
Hey Family,
First thank you for all the prayers, emails, and thoughts in my direction. I really can´t tell you how much I appreciate them. I love you all so much!
So this week was pretty good. I am totally sun-burnt, covered in mosquitoes bites, and very tired, but I guess that means I worked hard right? I swear there isn´t a moment that i am not covered in sweat, dirt, and who knows what else, but it is great.
We taught a woman this week named Severina and she said she couldn´t understand me when I talk so that was definitely a confidence crusher, but literally one hour late we met this man who said I speak very well for being here two weeks now. So I felt like that was a tender mercy.
I brought a bag of PB M&Ms from the MTC in provo and I saved them until this week. We were walking in the street eating these delicious m&ms and these kids were just staring at me so I offered them some and they got the biggest smiles on their faces. It was so cute. Then we stood and talked with them for a few minutes and got their addresses and we are going to teach their families later. They were so cute! Now every time I see them in the street they yell ´´Sister Jacubs´´ because they can´t say Jacobson. Its cute.
I had a ´´this is what its all about´´ moment this week. We were teaching a woman named Bárbara about the Plan of Salvation and she was just crying and crying, sharing with us her testimony about God. It was a great experience for me.
The food here is great. Lots of rice, meat, pasta, and bread. Yay. hahaha, but all the members are so great and take such good care of us.
I was asked to play the piano for our ward because no one here plays, they just listen to recordings usually. So that was fun. The hard part is all the songs are in Portuguese so I never know what song we are singing until I start playing it. Oh I am so embarassed because I really am struggling, but everyone is so impressed, so thank you Mom for making me stay in piano.
Well, I wish I could say i am speaking fluent Portuguese, but hahaha no. Some days are still so frustrating. Sometimes I feel like I cannot fulfill my purpose if I can´t speak the language, but I am trying.
So I might be going to buy new shirts this week. Mom, you know those shirts we got with the yellow, red, brown skirt, and the blue skirt? Well my comp thinks they are too see-through so she doesn´t want me to wear them. I am going to talk to the mission president because I really don´t think they are bad at all! But we will see. I will probably get some shirts anyway, because the shirts I thought would be good for this weather are just way too hot. Everything is so hot!!! But, it is all worth it.
So this question is for anyone that wants to answer, I just would like some advice for specifically goal setting for language. I just feel like I need advice so feel free to give me any and all!
Well I love you all. Thank you for all you do.
Love, Sister Jacobson
